    Hi all,

Would it be better to run 6x20 minute sessions in a week or 3x40 minutes sessions? Both equate to 2 hours of running so if all other variables - pace, inclines, wind etc. - were equal which would have the greater fitness benefits in your opinion??

    Tnx

Probably the 40mins, but probably depends on your goals. I have read before that for fat loss it should be more than 20mins, my cycling commute is less than that, so I used to take a longer route. But if you are not exercising for fat loss I am not sure what is best.

But you might burn more calories and/or fat on the 6x20min since you might be more likely to go all out during the 20mins sessions.

it all depends on the intensity aswell ... If all those 20 min sessions were interval type stuff you could get good benefit from that, whereas if its just light / med intensity cardio you would prob only be starting to break a sweat at the 20 minute point .. If i only had 20 minutes to devote to cardio session i would go flat out for that 20 mins

Need more info really - what are your goals for instance? Which are you more likely to keep up? I would imagine 3 x 40 is easier to keep up, but depends on your own circumstances. 20 minutes - you'd need to be going fairly flat out to see any benefit.
