I ordered sky HD yesterday, when the guy comes and installs the new box, is there anyway he can set the original box we have here up in a different room? or is it useless?
    Cheers

If it is a multiroom job then he has to do it and you pay him no bloody fee ! If not then what was said above would be correct.

Nope it aint a multiroom job. Its just I'd like to have the original standard box upstairs in one of the bedrooms for herself, will save her giving me grief when Im watching the footie.

Without a (multiroom) subscription you will receive very few channels, NO RTE, TV3, TG4, Sky, Living etc. The UK channels (BBC, Channel 4, E4 etc) will only be available through the other channels option.

BTW all of the shopping channels are available free :D

So what channels would I have?

The last thing I want is her upstairs with only the shopping channel!!!:)

The easiest way to find out what channels you will have without a subscription is remove the card from your current Sky box, the pay channels will go blank, the FTA channels will remain.

Remove the card and unplug the box, and when you plug it back in again at its new location (bedroom?) it should revert to the UK EPG (if not, there's another trick to force it to do it, detailed loads of times on here).

So then, 101 will be BBC1, 102 BBC2, etc, etc..

You'll have BBC1->4, ITV 1->4, E4, More4, all the "+1" versions of those channels, Sky news, BBC news, a few music channels, Film4 and a whole host of rubbish shopping channels!

Channel4 won't be on the EPG unfortunately, you'll have to add it via "other channels"
