    Hi :)

I had read about a SAHM being able to claim up to 12 years PRSI contributions. This would count toward old age pension then later on.

I checked with the Citizens Advice Bureau and the girl behind the desk said you claim them when you go back to work. I really got the feeling that she didn't know what she was talking about, she was very hesitant and I felt she was fobbing me off. I would have thought that I should at least advise some office or other of my intentions to avail of this.

I tried to find out more but just can't seem to find a definitive answer, it all seems very vague. Anyone any experience of this?

    Thanks.

I finally found something, here is the link in case its useful to anybody else :)

    http://www.welfare.ie/publications/sw1.html

Its a bit confusing, it states no need to apply if getting child benefit, but I do not see how they will have twigged that I am a homemaker just because I am getting CB when I have worked until recently :o

Anyway, hope this benefits somebody else :)
