Ive gotten a few bargains on ebay, but this beats all!...

SAGINAW, Mich. USA -- With a winning bid of just $1.75, a Chicago woman is getting an abandoned home in Saginaw.

Joanne Smith, 30, recently was the top bidder for the home at 1606 Perkins street during an auction on eBay.

Her bid was one of eight for the home, which she said she wants to resell.

Smith moved to Chicago five years ago from Miami, Fla. She said she hasn't seen the property or visited Saginaw.

Saginaw officials said she also must pay almost $1,000 in back taxes and cleanup costs for overgrown weeds and trash.

The fee is due by Tuesday, March 31, or the city will foreclose on the property.

The owner began the online bidding at one penny.

Now... any abandoned homes in D4 i can call my own?

That is not the only one you will find over there. There are many bank foreclosures going for less than $100 even as low as one dollar. It is really a sad state of affairs tbh.

Well, if she has to pay $1k in backtaxes also, then it really cost her a lot more than $1.75! :)

    What kinda area is it?

True, but it is still an ebay bargain... there is money to be made on turning that property around... even if she gets back a few thousand on doing it up and selling it on.

True, as long as it isn't in some sort of ghetto area.
