Vox AC15 VS AC30 for recording

    Alright lads.
Quickie for the studio-dudes...(which, now that I've said it, will no doubt turn into a righteous war of the wills :))

Regarding a Vox AC15 vs AC30 for studio recording, I've heard some producers saying the incremental power of the 30 makes it little bit trickier than the 15 to record cleanly in studio due to buzzing and other such annoyances. Surely nothing that couldn't be cleaned up?

It would be mainly the clean tone I'm after. Don't know if this is just wild talk and exaggeration but thought I'd ask yiz to see if you had opinions.

    Thanks

I think either would be fine, although there's likely to be more AC30s on great records for all that's worth.

Played an AC15 bout a month ago in the US. Very very dark sound. Great sound when pushed a little but very dark.

The 15's a bit easier to record, dunno why though.

I've recorded a good bit with an AC30 and never found it too tricky. Never tried and AC15 though.

A tele through an AC30 is my favourite guitar setup for recording (with a Rat in between). Yum.

yeah I play a 72 tele so hopefully i'm on the right track for the sound I want. I'll try a few and hopefully pick up something decent 2nd hand.
    thanks

They're not really the same amp, I think they sound quite different, and of course it all depends on when it was made- far more variations of the 30 than the 15, from gank to golden. So it'd be foolish to state one over the other without hearing it first, because quality control and condition varies wildly too.

But I'd be happy with with either cos they're both lovely, assuming it was a good example of either. Or an AC50, recorded one of those once. The cabinet needed rebuilding, but we used it anyway and it was fab overdriven with a little transitor pre amp.
