Folks, I was clearing out some old VHS tapes recently and found a video I had recorded about 12 years ago of an episode of 'Police, camera, action' titled 'The Liver Run'. I remembered at the time looking at this amazing footage and being blown away by the Police drivers skill.

In a nutshell its a video of two London Met police cars making a dash across the city to deliver a donor liver, but having to do so in 35 minutes. For various reasons helicopters couldn't be used, so it was up to these officers to get it done before the liver became useless.

I have looked around for info on the net and came across this page detailing all the information of the race against time. Best bit is they have the whole thing linked on 3 youtube videos which I highly recommend you check out.

I have this on video and despite many intervening clear-outs of old tapes I have always kept this one. In fact I watched it only about a month ago. It's a brilliant watch and highly reccommended to all, if for nothing else for the reaction at the end of one of the car crew.

I watched it at the time it was released on TV and again about 2 months ago in youtube. You are dead right, it is epic. The skill of the drivers for that length of time and even the management of traffic control at many of the junctions through the city. Actually I will watch it again.

I remember watching this in In-Service years ago (no, not on an 8mm projector). Great footage.

Brilliant video..found myself shouting at the truck blocking the right hand lane on the motorway though, haha..

Really great stuff, especially that 60 odd mph sprint through the city

Reminds me of the time when the Pearse St. canteen ran out of rashers and sausages. The dash from the wholesalers on the Long Miler was the parting of the waves. Men on every junction. Outriders. Luckily the M50 was still only an ill-conceived twinkle in someones eye at that point. Some lads were nearly late for court, but they got the goods to the kitchen just in time. Now, the girls in that kitchen knew about pressure!

This Police, Camera, Action gem is repeated this evening at 5pm on ITV4 (I assume it's this one. The MoS have it listed as "A mercy dash across London").

As I said earlier watch out for the crew's reaction at the end. Classic....
