But think of the boosted sales to disposable razors. We'll need that kind of economic stability in this economy.

Apparently many emos are lonely masochists. Their sadist tormentors are only filling a niche in the market.

Why did they put up a notice for parents IN THE SCHOOL? How often are the old timers in there? Do your parents accompany you and your friends to class or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Irishcrx

They are not depressed they are just socialy expressing their pain through means of clothing , image and music and anyone who thinks they are is just conforming to the natural thinking of society. In all fairness though we had a 15 page moan about scumbags now it's emo's next it'll be a we hate everybody threat, emo's are grant compared to some of the scum around they are golden.

No no no, don't mess up the order, next is the moan about foriegners, then moan about the irish. Then we progress to the how attractive eastern europeans are, then back to scumbags with a few flavour of the month threads thrown in there to boot!

If you have to ask, you're just not with it, granddad! I'm down and groovy with the hip new language these crazy kids use, yep, I'm that cool! Don't be so square man.

emo, is short for 'emotional'. They're like goths with a sensitive side, goths that aren't deadpan...they follow bands like "My Chemical Romance" and the like.

cue, all the goths posting to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about :D:D

When I was in school we had a meeting once (this when we were about 13 or 14) about the dangers of self-harm and listening to depressing music. Apparently, there had been a bit of an uproar in the school because some kids thought it was trendy to be depressed and self-harm. For some reason, the school was then deeply suspicious of anybody who looked like a metalhead, goth or 'alternative'.

I see the same thing is still going on now, just under a different name- emo, goth, rocker kids. It's just how schools treat kids who are a bit outside of the mainstream, imo.

Obviously not that down with it...how can you be an emotional?....or how is possible to have emotional hair? From what I can make out its really hard to define. I thought "emo" was the music genre and "scene" was to look that goes with it.

I've always wondered how dressing up as a sad vampire is a good way of expressing pain.

For one thing isn't pain generally pretty sudden. If you really wanted to show you were in pain then you'd say it. For instance, if I broke my leg I'd be likely to shout "Jesus ****ing Christ my leg!". It would be a lot more obvious that I was in pain than dragging myself home and listening to really bad music while attempting to look like a vampire.

Yeah, that article got alot of attention a while back, purely because the gross majority of it is filler/made up/plagarised from a baptist christian who probably also made it up.

I don't really get why people dislike emos so much*, its not like they're extroverts, and if its about the clothes (their fashion in general) they wear, I fúcking hate mullets but i dont go around posting on the internet (besides this one time for anyone who has nothing better to do than quote me on this) saying ''Grrrr I mullets, RAWR etcetc, Those guys have such a shít taste in music, Go listen to <Insert band name, who never ever had a mullet/s>''**

*Unless they're Peta sympathisers, then they can fúck off and die :pac:
**Taken from the general rant; "Grrrr I hate emos, Fúckin **** music too, Go listen to Pantera or some manly ass music"

I agree with all of the above but 'emos' themselves can be pretty annoying. That is, the ones who take the whole thing far too seriously and act like it's some sort of religion. And the ones who don't actually have problems but can only talk about how 'depressed' they are...it irritates me, because I know people who are genuinely depressed and it's insulting that these 'emo' drama queens wear 'depression' like some sort of badge, like it's a fashion statement or something...annoys the hell out of me....

But that newspaper article is a load of pants. There's always going to be some new teenage fad for the papers and parents to get self-righteous about...it's not a big deal.
