Carzone updates

I went to renew my ad on carzone and they're asking for a registration number now - why are they being so nosy?! I don't get why they ask for a reg though - if you really wanted to screw with them you could just copy the reg off another similiar car.

Also, I had an ad from when I sold my last car lying dormant (for the last 2 years) - but it's disappeared now.

Seems like they're tightening the belt and taking a bit more control over what is put up on the site now.

My money would be on them tieing in to Cartell... along the lines of 'Click here to see this cars history...'

Just noticed, browsing at cars, there's a link underneath each car to report it if there's a problem with the ad!

    "5 grand for a '90 civic?!?!":D

It'd make it easier for them to stop dodgey ads. If someone tries to enter an already used reg or one that doesnt match the car they can stop the ad going live.

No harm, it will slow down the scamming process hopefully.

Good point, but there's still ways around that if you look hard enough - not every car in Ireland is listed on it!

Wonder how the foreign reg cars'll get around it - are they automatically exempt if they cannot be recognised (or can cartell check that as well?!)

Thing is, you;ll never erradicate fraud, especailly while theres no shortage of stupid and gullible people to hand over huge wads of cash. It's all about making it as difficult for them to operate while impacting as little as possible on genuine people.

If this helps cutting down on the "I think this might be a scam" threads here then it's a good thing imo.
