Network card needs reboot to connect

Hi - I fitted a new LAN Card and downloaded the up-to-date software from its proprietary website. I installed the drivers and expected 'all' to be well - sadly, not so! The LAN card connected me to my ADSL Router/Modem perfectly and ran at an acceptable speed - BUT it simply NEVER will connect me at FIRST bootup! I have to reboot EVERY TIME to get my broadband connection - why? It doesn't seem to matter whether or not the Router is already running when the PC is activated - it won't 'connect' until it's rebooted.

The card is a Marvell Yukon and I'm operating WinXp - SP2 on the PC
