Is it really necessary to close the whole line because one track at Ashtown is blocked? Send a loco to haul it away, only necessary to close for ~1 hour.

    Also, punctuation, Irish Rail?

I was wondering that myself. Services have been suspended since not long after 11!

Could be worse, AA Roadwatch was saying earlier that the train had broken down in Ashbourne!

Well, in fairness, the more I think about it, the more I understand- the only crossovers on the line that could be used to get around this blockage are at Glasnevin and Clonsilla, that's a 25min journey time ona a single track, during which a train coming in the opposite direction would be waiting, so not really feasible to run the commuter services.
But that's no excuse to terminate Sligo-Connolly at Maynooth - it's not being blocked!

What was the story with the 19:05 train to Sligo yesterday. I think it did'nt arrive until 7:40 in Maynooth. The last few weeks this train has been arriving at least ten minutes late and not getting into Mullingar until 20:20 or later.

It maybe be necessary to close the line if the maintenance technicians have to work on the train.
