Smyths FIFA 09 Trade In Deal

I heard an ad on the radio this morning from Smyths saying trade-in two games from selected list and get FIFA 09 for free. Anyone work in Smyths or know whats on the list? What are Smyths like for PS3 trade-ins in general?

i'd imagine they are very newish games maybe games that are released a month or two.

I'd rather just buy it and sell the others on ebay or something get better value.

i work beside smyths so i will check at lunchtime and let you know around 2!
I want to see what the deal involves too! these things usually are not value for money!

They do that with pretty much every new game, i've availed of it enough times.

ye was in there. They do it for every game alright. You can trade in two games for it BUT they have to be of a trade in value of €34 in total.
Like fifa 08 is worth €8, GTA is worth €24 and Fight Night is worth €12.
You have to ask them in store how much the value of your games are worth!
She said you can trade in more like 3-4 games to make up the €34 but I doubt you'll want to part with that many games!

Xtravision are doing a similar trade-in deal.

AFAIK their trade-in values are better than most.

Heard the Smyths ad on the radio on the way in. Half tempted to complain to the NCA (but too lazy so probably won't)

(Paraphrasing as I can't remember exact wording)

"It's FIFA09 and it's free at Smyths." But wait - it isn't.

"That's right, FIFA 09 is free at Smyths when you trade in any two selected games." So not free - it may be bartering, but you need to exchange something for it.

Free- provided without, or not subject to, a charge or payment or given without consideration of a return or reward

"Terms and conditions apply." Catch all cover-our-asses phrase.

Very nasty (and deceptive) ad all round, very misleading. But, unfortunately, probably all above board.

anyone know the story with this??? is it any 2 games you trade in, you get fifa free? or what 'selected games' are they looking for??

I went to Smyths last Friday traded in the following games.

1. Top Spin 3 €22
2. Pro Evo 2008 €25
3. Resistance FOM €13

Got FIFA for free .
Game Stop would not take Pro Evo as a trade in. So Smyths offered the best deal, did not try Xtravision though.

The deal is Smyths want any two games worth €17 or more,it doesn't matter what the games are.

I got FIFA yesterday. GameRipoff were giving €8 for 08 and €12 for Stranglehold. Xtravision gave me €12 for 08 and €24 for Stranglehold. Cost me €23 on top, but they did throw in the free football......which was nice.
