with it raining as often as it is lately, i think its time i should invest in a pair of goretex runners or something.

Im loking for something that is light, good looking, 'like a runner in terms of comfort'

    any suggestions?

what do u wear for commuting?

    thanks

I use BBB Waterflex overshoes over a range of different SPD shoes, keeps them perfectly dry.

    hi

I bought myself one of these
    http://www.hi-tec.com/uk/40850-product-v_lite_radar_ii_event-all.html

for this purpose: they are waterproof, very breathable, ok looking and very comfortable and were very reasonably priced for the specs (I think I got them on sale or sth). However, they are completely useless for cycling, not only because they can only be used on flat pedals (these are trail/outdoor shoes) but because the rain does get in of course around your ankle (I come from a much drier part of the world, hence my naivete...). I tried to avoid the overshoes, because they are driving me nuts, but I guess that's the solution...

I'm in €120 goretex shoes - but the water still gets in on bad days (via the neck of the shoe)

    A great shoe though.

I have to get some overshoes for the bad days!

    +1 for the overshoes.

I don't wear SPDs on my commute but I do use a pair of neoprene overshoes on my regular shoes and they generally fit/do a good job. If it's really pissing however, I revert to waterproofed (i.e. Nikwax) hiking shoes a la Howitzer. The fact that I also use a cape (http://www.carradice.co.uk/rainwear/duxback-rainwear.shtml) in such conditions probably helps too.
