Hi All,I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me any advice - I don't know jack about the music industry, but I'd love to help my girlfriend out, she's from Sweden and doesn't really know anyone here. She is a singer with bags of potential, has just recorded a demo and I don't really know what to tell her from here. She had a record contract lined up before she left for here, and she's worked with African Grammy winners and stuff before she came over so I don't think it's me being biased, I think she genuinely is talented.A problem I think she'd have is her voice is more Soul/RnB/Pop/Country even and I can't see there being much of a market/interest in Dublin for this kind of thing for an amateur.Hope I've done this right and in the right place, thanks for any advice...

    Hiya.

First of all I think it is so nice you want to help her out. But you are right there is not much of a market here for that sort of music well any music really. I have worked within the industry in Ireland, and tbh there is very few deals that happen here. Most of the singers and musicians I know, tried for years here and could not get anywhere, everything seems to be tied to the likes of Louis walsh etc. In the end those singers move to the states or London. Friends of mine who are now in the charts, worked so hard over here for years and got doors closed on them, and now they have made it, but they had to move out of here.
I am a singer to, and I recorded aswell, and I didnt get anywhere here, unfortunetly due to my circumstances I could not move abroad, but if I had of been able to I would have gone.
Advise her to get a good myspace done (if she hasnt already) and get her new tracks up, and see what feedback she gets. She could also send her demo to record companies in the UK, she could do it here, but it may not even be looked at. Also she should make sure she gets some good pics done, and possibly get some gigs.
Sorry for the rant, I hope that helped a little??

    best of luck.
