Ok first of all, sorry for the mental thread title, i just couldnt think of what to call it.

I know im going to regret posting this thread because I cant post anonymously and my friends from the drama group are going to slag the shoite out of me next tuesday if they see this thread (I havent shared this with them to avoid been thought of a bigger whacko than i already avoid trying to be!)

Last night at drama, we carried out some voice exercises. One of the activities involved everyone standing in a circle, focus on breathing and ommitting varying pitches of "hum" on exhale, most of which were in unison.

As we proceeded to do it, i was wondering if given the focus everyone was putting on the activity, the mindset and the inward/group facing position of the activity, if it was possible that we were excuding any kind of energy.

ok this is were my credibility goes down the toilet in an anti clockwise flush.

I decided to see if i could focus in on the energy of the group by focussing less on me and concentrating on the group and what others were doing while in the relaxed state.

nothing happened but then for a split second i felt this wave of energy come over me. It felt weird to say the least. It lasted only a split second and i was then overcome by a wave of light headedness and held the the chair beside.

Now carrying out exercises like that can cause in some people slight waves of light headedness but it was the rush of energy beforehand that was weird.

Anyone got any comments on it? Im sure the chances were that it was all in my head but even still, twas a bit mad!

Yeah I completely get what you are saying but have nothing to back it up with (sorry skeptics :D). I've experienced it alot and tbh it can be an addictive "hit".

There have been a few large groups how have organised world days were they intend to use the energy to achieve a goal. There have been threads here on this.

Hey.... come on in, welcome to our world.:) Youll get used to the flushing sensation eventually.

Ive done meditations where similar happens, and in shamanic drumming (though I know very little about it) the aim is to unify the group with the rhythmic beat of the drum. It can be a bit mindbending too.

Ive also done group energy work where you link hands and 'send' energy clockwise or anticlockwise, with one person usually controlling the direction. The funny thing being, you feel it change direction without being told. Skeptics hate this kind of thing, as it smacks of group hysteria and Ive used the word energy in a vague way. But I dont do this to prove anything to anyone. I look on all of this as simply experiences, which you take, leave or just observe. Interesting fun.

I used to have access to a CD of a group of Buddhist monks chanting OM.
Nothing else and voices of different pitch and length of sound.
It produced a sensation very similar to what you describe.

If anyone knows of a CD similar to this, please advise of details. There are similar available but have had an annoying instrumental background added, which 'weakens' the entire effect.

Faceman, what do you think is at work here? Your group could do worse than discuss the several effects and you might be surprised at the responses.

A group like that will tune in to each other and eventually if left long enough will about be humming/singing/toning roughly the same note, so that everyone is virbating at roughly the same resonance.

I dont know what it is at work, my theory is our personal energy combined as part of the group to creat an even bigger energy. If you imagine a fast running river with many streams flowing into it. however the stronger currents are at the base of the river and you only feel it if you step in. If that makes sense.
