Depending on where you want to go and what animals your interested in you can get good hunting ranging from free on public land all over the country, just buy an out of state hunting licence, to many thousands with outfitters.

    What are you gunning for?
One thing the US has is an abundance of outfitters, independent and corporate. Trophy, fur or fish or just good bird shooting mixed in with antelope, bear, deer, elk and sheep.

    Sika,
A lot depends on what you are hunting.

    DB
alot depends on how many people are shooting on the land
also how do you know who else is shooting on the land on that day and how competent they are.

Fair enough, this can be true for whitetail a lot of the time but not always, but be prepaired to pay a lot for example, have recently been to South Africa for 10 days hunting for much less than a decent lease in South Texas (generally small bodied animals but very big trophy heads) cost me 10 years ago.
The flip side being in Montana 8 or 9 years ago for Elk, where almost all hunting is on public land, National Forest & National Wilderness, we were stubborn enough to hike at least 5 miles and 1000 feet higher up past the last outfitters camp to get our elk. Was well pleased with a 6 point as the success rate is usually less tha 10% of licences issued.
Your problem there is getting your tag (licence), go through an outfitter and pay a lot or put your name in their lottery for out of state tags. Whereby you pay up front (about $400 last I entered) to prove you are serious, If pulled, well and good, If not, they send you a check back less about $5 processing fee.
