    It better be wrong.

Originally I had no 9am starts. But all of a sudden two more lectures just appeared on the timetable. One at 9am on Tuesday. They didn't replace anything...just added in.

Any chance it's wrong? One was added on Friday aswell. If you look, they are just copies of the lecture that is after them. Same subject, same place. Could someone have just copied and pasted by accident?

I really couldn't stand a 9am start on Tuesday because it's the morning after my debs!!

I hear tell that most timetables are somewhat... provisional, anyway.

    (That is to say, inaccurate.)

Yeah I kinda knew that, but even last year I don't think they had any 9am starts. And the ones that were added in...it's not like they've changed it to two hour lectures, because they're in as seperate ones...but the same thing. If that makes sense.

monday is the same as last years.
tuesday is the same except for you're off at 4 (apart from the first week) and now you have a 2 hour 1BA3 lab
wednesday has the same hours but different classes
    thursday is the same
friday is the same except for your 2 hour 1BA2 lab. We had a one hour one

That's prob a good idea, a lot of the questions in those labs are deceptively easy-looking, but time-consuming.
and now you have a 2 hour 1BA3 lab
Also great, for the same reasons.
Though I'm sure it doesn't seem like good news to you, academically it's good! Promise!:)

I dunno about the 1BA2 lab being an hour longer being that good an idea. You wanna push yourself to do it in under an hour IMO, since you'll need to in an exam, though I suppose there's more distractions than in an exam and it's harder at the start when you're only learning programming, so I dunno really.

Good point, true that in the exam you won't have the luxury, but if this is your first time programming, the last you thing you want is to know how to solve a particular problem, but not getting the marks in the lab because of running out of time.
Then again, it may push those people to finish of questions at home, learning from the experience....
OK, now I dunno also :o

I would wager that 1ba2 and 1ba3 are still one hour labs - afaik theres quite a large intake into CS this year, so odds on you'll be doing one of the two of those labs (count the hours, if you include both of those the hour count for CS first year is surprisingly high)

    Yeah, you're probably right.

Something like 44 new CSers this year, insane.

Except, I haven't met any and none of them have come drinking with us, *tear.

    That makes sense:P:p

Why are there two smileys which are the exact same?

    How many are there usually?

I've met one other one! I was joining the DU Comedy and I told the guy I was doing Computer Science and then he was like "oh...this girl beside you who's joining is also doing that..say hi to each other!"

    So we said hi

Well we had 26 sitting our exams, but a good few had dropped out by that stage. A few failed. I think a few people failed second year so they might be in our year next time so it'll prob be ~26. Then you have to add in the CSLL people for maths and programming. Only a handful of them though.

About twenty something finished my year.

Nowadays it's a very small course.
44? In comparison to our class, as my colleague Mr. Tissue pointed out, that's massive.

    Wait, wait.

hah yeah I found out today that this girl was one of two doing my course..

Anyway, I have a question! (As usual)

I finally registered today, got my password etc for the ISS stuff. I went on, and viewed my timetable on there. It is different from the one here:

    https://www.cs.tcd.ie/timetables/2008_09/Undergraduate/BA%20Computer%20Science%20&%20ICT/JuniorFreshmanBACSTimetable2008-09.pdf

On Friday, the 10.00 - 11.00 Lab thing that appears in the link above isn't on my Student Information System timetable.

    Which one should I follow?

There's a mistake on the SIS one for Tuesday afternoon too....so it kind of seems like I should follow the one that isn't the SIS one..

Always follow the one that CS put up on their website. Also, if you have a course meeting then they'll run through it there AFAIR.

What an amazingly quick reply, thanks.

Yeah the meeting is tomorrow so I guess I'll wait til then before panicing and using it as an excuse to miss a lecture or two anyway

Ok well the timetable I got at the course meeting today is slightly different from both the original timetable posted on the site and the one that's currently there. But on it there are no 9am starts so I guess I'll stick with it unless told otherwise ;)
