depends on the course, I guess.

Depends on competition too. I c 44+pts winning some of the bigger competitions in my club, and 38pts winning the minor ones. The old chestnut of guys hanging onto their handicaps.

I had 42 points in our club singles and came 3rd. Had 41 points in the open singles the day before and I won.

In the last week and a half I won with 38 and 41 points and came third with 42! When I won with 41 standard scratch was 40 and its usually 38. I thought I'd get cut more. I was playing off of 20.7 and now off 18.5

I think I'll still score well off of 19

    Without a doubt...........

Agroup of 6-8 of us play each week, last year 32-34 would have been there most weeks, now 38-40 is the target......

I dont know if people are getting better or just bandits.

3-4 shots better than your handicap expecting to win,no chance on most courses.
42-43 is the norm ,which gives lower handicappers a chance.
Lately though I've seen 46 and 48 point winning on tough courses which is ridiculous.Bandits.

I agree, I had 41 points (off 5) on Sunday and wasn't even at the races for prize. 47 points won the comp, guy off 15 shooting 4 over.

Big problem here and definately one in my place. The scores are just mental (something mad like 47 in one of the rounds of the captains). I myself shot 43 on a near perfect round and only won by a single shot with a gaggle on 42!

The mid week 9 hole is just as bad. I have been beaten on countbacks on 23, 22 and 21! Our place is screwy though as the CSS is normally -3....
