well as for Killarney three hotels that come to my mind are:

    - Aghadoe Heights Hotel and Spa http://www.aghadoeheights.com/
    - Europe Hotel http://www.hotel--europe.com/Hotel_Europe_Home.html
    - Brehon Hotel and Spa http://www.thebrehon.com/

The ross in killarney was one of the most amazing hotels i was ever in.I didnt stay there, but i know a guy working there so got to have a look around:).the interior is class!!The pics dont do it justice, you have to see it.The restauraunt is under ground, and its very nicely done. Not sure how expensive it would be to stay though....

    lake hotel killarney, spectacular scenery
    dunloe hotel
    ross hotel
    brehon hotel

all great choices but the lake is my favourite because of the surroundings

While i agree that the Lake Hotel has spectacular scenery, their is no spa in the hotel which the OP mentioned he was looking for.

Also it would depend on when the OP predicts the voucher would be used as...

rumour around Killarney is that the Lake Hotel which normally only closes for a few weeks in January each year will be closed until end of Feb/start of March in 2009

The Plaza has Europes only Molton Brown spa. It's in the middle of town and is lovely. Expensive, but lovely. A couple of good restaurants in the hotel but in Killarney good food is commonplace. What a nice friend you must be!
