I want to have a go at putting together farm accounts / small business accounts for my own satisfaction if nothing else - what software would users recommend - Sage/TAS Books/Other? What version? Also what's the story with annual updates?

Ideally something that's cheap as I will be buying it myself...

    Any info appreciated
    :)

You could also check out 'Sort my books'

Website says "Do-It-Yourself Bookkeeping Software for Business Owners. Make your bookkeeping quick, easy and informative with SortMyBooks one of the leading small business accounts packages in Ireland."

I've not used it myself, but it's only €390 to buy and there's a free trial on the website...

It's aimed specifically at Irish small businesses.

And no, I don't work for the company, but I do know the people who run the company and they're good people. :)

Most Small packages are very user friendly. best thing is to try and shop locally for backup and assistance or you can go to your local computer store and pull something cheap off the shelves. Beware of some packages whose support isn't based in Ireland.

    Hi A2fan

There's lots of cheap aternatives as mentioned above but you'd probably best find a solution that suits your business. Herbst software has grown out a farm here in wicklow. www.herbst.ie
