I'm sure this is a very easy question, but I'm pretty clueless about this.
I want to get my girlfriend a lens cap, the type that has a string attached to the camera (she's lost hers a few times already). Do I need the know the exact make/ model of the camera, or will one fit all? It's a Nikon SLR of some sort.

You need to know the filter size (the lens cap fits into the filter threads), it should be marked on the front of the lens somewhere, often 52mm or 58mm but depends on the lens.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the size on the lens before buying anything.
Is 7day shop ok for this kind of thing? I've used them for memory sticks before, got their "own brand" ones which I wasn't too happy with.
are you my hubbies alter ego?????
Nope, but I guess you're getting a new lens cap too eh? :p

7dayshop is grand, I've loads of them. It's a piece of plastic after all.

    I have these: http://cgi.ebay.ie/10-Lens-Cap-Holder-Retainer-Keeper-w-Elastic-Band-f_W0QQitemZ200255100369QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200255100369&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
they do the trick and no need to buy a new cap, just stick it to your current cap

    Thanks guys,

I got myself a 58mm lens cap from 7dayshop. Wasn't too dear, and hopefully will do the job. Pity I didn't see that ebay thingy sooner, that would have been great too!
