Prison Break star out

William Fichtner’s days on Prison Break could be numbered. THR reports that Fichtner, who plays Alexander Mahone on the series, has signed to play the lead in TNT’s drama Night and Day. ER alum Sherry Stringfield is also pegged to the series. Night and Day is a quick-moving gritty tale of Dan Hollister (Fichtner), an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms who works for an elite threat intervention task force. Stringfield will play Dan's wife Elizabeth.

Its a shame if he leaves

There was an article not long ago about FOX giving Fichtner freedom to do other projects alongside Prison Break but only if they were FOX TV or movie associated so they could hold on to him in their studio. I'm surprised now to see that he has signed on to do another networks drama series, and am surprised FOX let him do it as I understood he was tied to them for as long as PB lasts in an exclusivity deal. Either Prison Break ends after this series for good (giving him the freedom to move on) or Mahone is killed off sometime this season, which are both quite possible outcomes.

I reckon Mahone will snuff it. He doesn't really have much to live for now, even if everything works out, so I think he'll die doing something that kills Wyatt at the same time, like crashing into his car or something.

In a show that has gone way downhill he is the best character and in general he is a great actor,best actor on the show by far.

A great actor who suits that role well, so probbaly why he takes them. Will certainly be watching his new show to see how how it is.
