Hey, just wondering can someone help me out, my girlfriend and I were in Galway a couple of months ago and she saw a make up book (by a reputable make up artist) that she wanted to get in Brown Thomas. Would like to pick it up for christmas but I've been into BT's here and they weren't very helpful!

Best I can do is it was a black bordered glossy hardback landscape book, with I think a black and white image of a girl sitting down centred on it. Any help much appreciated, I know it's not much to go on...but she did give me the impression she was quite well known?

Hmmm. That's tough. Could it have been Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy or Laura Mercier? They're very famous make-up artists and their products are sold in BT (at least, the first two are anyway) so it's likely it could have been one of them. All three have released beauty books but I don't know if they match your description. Might be worth checking up on them on Amazon/eBay/whatever.

Otherwise - and this is a total long shot - you could try and get a list of all the beauty counters in BT, either by ringing them, walking around yourself and making a list or else piecing it together from pages like this on their website (the site is a bit crap cos it doesn't tell you all the counters that there are but that page I linked to has a list of a good few of them). Then google the names to see if they've released a make-up book. Bit more labour-intensive but it could pay off. At least you'll end up a total expert on the cosmetics hall in BT ;)

    Good luck finding it.

Know what, I think you're bang on there missmatty, (maybe it was sitting in a black frame on the day) and bobbi brown does ring a bell, thanks for the help guys! :)

Wow, just read the description...definitive book for over 40's, she's only 30 so that might have been a counter productive christmas morning :(

Will take a look around at those 3 make up artists other books, and thanks again.

Hey there, Bobbi Brown has lots of different make-up books, I got one a few years ago that was for teenagers, so they have books for all ages, this might be the one she was looking at? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bobbi-Brown-Beauty-Ultimate-Resource/dp/0091853702/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222794481&sr=1-4
The best thing to do would be to go back into the Bobbi Brown counter in BT's and tell them your girlfriends age and they'll help pick out the most suitable one. Good luck!!

Oops sorry there, cymk  Anyway don't worry, even if you can't find exactly the one she saw, most girls would love an (age-appropriate) Bobbi Brown book :D
