    Hi all,
Going to Berlin in a few weeks and staying for four nights. Would like some information on reasonably priced hotels in the city centre if possible!
    Thanks in advance,
    Henboy.

Berlin is expensive enough for hotels. We stayed in the Citadines Aparthotel in Olivaer platz (Its just off Ku'udaam (the main shopping street)). Rooms cost 108 per night at weekend, going as low as 54 a night on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The only drawback is that its a sofa bed but apart from that its basicallya hotel room with a fridge, dishwasher amd microwave (Free wi fi and internet too if you need it)

I don't think Berlin is particularly expensive, particularly as capital cities go.

There is a problem with "city centre" hotels -- agreeing where the centre is! The centre of West Berlin was around Zoologischer Garten and Ku'udam; The centre of East Berlin was at Alexanderplatz; the centre before 1945 was at Potzdamerplatz. I liked the area near Alexanderplatz.

We got a good deal at Novotel Berlin Mitte, including a super breakfast buffet. About €100 per night, but worth it for the level of comfort and the breakfast. Try http://www.accorhotels.com and enter your travel dates. You might find something that suits you. Perhaps a little boring, but predictable standards and reliable.

I should point out we booked at short enough notice and a surprisingly large amount of hotels booked out. There were hotels available but we went with what we thought was the best value for money (and didn't regret it)

With the excellent public transport system in Berlin, all hotels are within 30 minutes of everything anyway

    At most!

henboy, if it's your first visit, I suggest that you take one day to visit Potsdam. It's reachable by commuter train.

The "Dorint Novotel Berlin Mitte" is a fine place. Not too far from Alexanderplatz and about 2 mins walk from Spittelmarkt u-bahn. We've stayed there on family trips.

The Berlin Plaza on Knesbeckstrasse is just off the Ku'damm - costs around 60-80 euro. Decent hotel. Nice bar. Not as "mod" as the Dorint.

Cheaper again is the Spreewald up near Charlottenberg S-Bahn ("West Berlin). This is basic but clean. Ordinary enough type of area but only a stop away from Savignyplatz which has a fair bit of night life.

All of the above hotels have websites. As everyone else has said public transport is excellent - get a multi-day ticket and you'll be set.

Stayed in the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz in May. Not cheap but the view from the 33rd floor was something else.

It's right beside the S and U Bahn station and is on the rail line in from Schoenefeld airport.

i stayed in the hotel wallstreet on surprise surprise Wallstrasse. It was a huge room, really modern and only €60 a night. I got a free upgrade on booking.com. The hotel didnt know anything about it but honoured it anyway.
