problems with esb connection positioning

    Hi,

We recently paid for our esb connection to our site it cost almost €5000

Before we were connected they asked for our site layout which we provided. it was clearly marked on this that our meter box was to be placed in the front right hand side of the house and site which is 1 acre.

Unfortunately the esb left the last pole at the back left hand side of the site completely opposite to the meter box:confused:

Which means we have to run our power supply across the whole site is this normal??

Can I ask them to put in another pole closer to my meter box location or will this cost more money?

Its a bit frustrating:mad: almost like they asked where the meter box was so that the could position their pole as far away as possible....

They may have had their own reasons for doing this. I'd suggest you contact the local engineer and discuss it with him. They are normally fairly approachable.

Just out of curiosity why did it cost so much for the supply?

    Hi Muffler

The site is about half a mile from the nearest neighbour and we required a single phase supply with a larger than normal MIC of 20 KVA both of those factors helped push the price up.

Yeah i thought it was steep too, they say that if anybody else conntects to the line in the next five years we will get some sort of rebate...
