    Hi all,

I have a VAIO laptop, everytime the laptop goes to sleep the wireless is turned off.

However, I cant turn it back on without restarting the laptop.

There is a physical wireless switch, it doesn't make a difference if I switch it after sleep.

    Any ideas?

Have a VAIO too and I don't think mwireless adapter goes asleep by itself.

Have a look around the power management, there might be some option to check/uncheck. Mine doesn't have anything like that but yours could be different. Right click the battery in bottom right hand corner beside the clock.

Does it happen when you use hibernate? Why not just use that instead.

Firstly make sure power management for the wireless isnt set to turn the adaptor off to safe power.
To check this go into device manager and right click the wireless card and go to properties.
Then what you do is you go to power management and make sure the box here is unticked.
Also there is a utility switch for vaios which sometimes can switch off when putting unit to sleep.
This will be either call vaio smart network or wireless switch utility depending on the vaio you have.
To access this go into control panel and find vaio control centre .
Once opened click the plus to expand network connections.
In here you will see one of these utilities.
Click on which one it is and select open.
It will open minimized in the bottom right hand corner.
Vaio smart network looks like half an arrow going left and half an arrow going right.
Wireless switch utility is kind of a green box.
    Right click and open.
If it is vaio smart network there will be a box next to wlan.
This should be green if wireless is on.
If it is grey click it and turn green.
If you have wireless switch utility there will be a box to put a tick in for 2.4ghz wireless.
    Hope this solved your issue.

    hi all

i also have a vaio VGN-N21M and this happens to me as well, but not only when it sleeps but when online, this is fine while browsing the net but while d/l large files it can be a pain, as you all know not all d/l can be resumed, i have had the laptop sent back to sony for repair and there reply was that it must be your isp or router, so of course i contacted my isp and they went through all there tests and nothing wrong with the line, even went as far as to borrow a pc to see if it was the router and low and behold never drops :) so not the router,we also removed the house phone and anything else we could think of that might be causeing it to drop,

    can anyone help
