    Hi

Just wondering, Where does Irish law stand on an individual's right to plant a tall hedge on their property.

I know a guy who owns a lake view property, in front of his house his neighbor has recently planted a hedge which is now beginning to block his view and unchecked would in future knock maybe 50k of the value of his house.

Its something that got me wondering as I'm looking at buying a site soon too and basically if you buy a property with a view can somebody lawfully do this as I'm sure if you wanted to build a wall it would be a different story.

Substantially, you have no right to a view. You do have a right to light though.

I don't think the planning acts really consider hedges.

I was of the same belief myself but as far as I am aware if you wish to plant a field with trees for forestry you do require PP,

I taught there might be some crossover here
