Would anyone be able to recommend a good quality weight gainer (that bulks you up with as little fat gained as possible). Price is not an issue.

If you're eating plain chicken and rice, and that is indicative of what you'd normally eat for the rest of your meals, it's no real surprise you're not gaining any weight in my opinion. Plain chicken and rice is "cutting food". You hear about bodybuilders eating it when they're coming up to a show and trying to drop body fat, not get bigger.

Add a litre or two of milk onto your normal days eating, and 3-4 spoonfuls of peanut butter and the weight should start to go on.

What's a normal days eating like right now?

That guy was not the OP, I thought he was, dunno if you did too(?).

billyhead- I think gerk86's point, and Hanleys is just to eat more, I do not see a real need for mass gainers, unless you are huge and find it difficult to pack in food, or for some other reason would find it difficult to just eat more. Most mass gainers are full of sugars, they are basically overpriced sweets, I would rather eat a load of nicer, cheaper sweets & cakes. They may have other nutrients etc, but these could be bought separate, if you feel you really need them.

I could easily add 2L of milk a day, which is around 1250kcal. 100g of peanuts is around 550kcal. Brown bread peanut butter sandwiches pack alot of calories.

A while back I bought a weight gainer (from holland & Barrett :D) It was vile tasting stuff, I threw it out in disgust after using it a couple of times. A scoop was something like 100 g and it needed to be blended into at least a pint of liquid. The thing with it was while it was fairly calorie dense, you still needed to take in a large volume/weight to get a lot of calories. High fat foods such as nuts and nut butters would be more calorie dense and therefore give more "bang for the buck" when it comes to getting calories.

You could also try the following
A 400 g tub of Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread + 150 g of real hazelnuts mixed in with it, eaten with a spoon. By my reckoning that is about 3000 calories and if you like chocolate and nuts you won't find it too hard to scoff it over the course of a day or two.

    Sugar content tho??

If it's low, that might become my new bulking snack.

40% of the calories in the Nutella spread come from sugar, not sure how good or bad that is. With the 150g of actual hazelnuts added in though, the % calories from sugars in the mixture will obviously drop significantly. You could also change the proportions if you wanted eg 100 g of nutella + 150 g of nuts.

Nutella is high in sugar and has added fat AFAIK. You can get roasted nuts cheap in tesco & aldi, I eat lots of cashews, I also fry them with chicken etc, for chinese stir fries.

You can just make your own nut butters too, with cashews etc, just liquidise it up, you can add a little oil or butter to make it more spreadable. I just eat nut sambos too, just stick whole nuts in, or put peanutbutter on and then stick on crushed or whole cashews, so they can stick to them.

Many mass gainers are just pure calories with none of the taste, bit of a waste IMO, nutella tastes gorgeous, but is high in sugar as mentioned, the blend is a good idea. You can get cheapo versions of it too.

Tesco value peanuts are cheaper than their peanut butter! something crazy like 29 or 39 cent for 200g. Cashews are about €8.60 per kilo

Hopefully the OP doesn't have a nut allergy :)
