I am organising a tour for a social rugby team next year. I have a schedule for 4 days drafted & I'm just wondering if theres anyone out there that can give me a few pointers on good, cheap accomodation & a few places that would be good for a team dinner/lunch situation?

Also if anyone has any decent ideas for cheap, fun activities Id be grateful.

    Thanks!

Chiquito is name of TexMex place on Frederick Street its really nice / good food etc, its just off princes street. There is alos a hotel there called Frederick St Hotel now its about £90 a night per room that inc breakfast.

Not sure activity wise what you want to do, but a trip round the Castle there is pretty cool. other than that, Edinburgh is a really lively city and you will easily find things to do in it. Ill be going back for the 3rd time at end of the yr for New Years

Make sure the players are covered by insurance and your affiliated branch are aware the trip is taking place.

Rose St is lively but predictable i.e. Temple bar with kilts. The Deacon Brodie is another good bar up in the Grassmarket I think. There are a number of good places around there to enjoy a beer.

There is a place called "Big Daddy O's" on the Lothian Rd which is always worth a look in. If your trip coincides with the international they do beer promotions while the rugby is on, in case you don't get a ticket !

Thanks for all the info guys. I have been there once before & I remember Deacon Brodie's actually. On the Royal Mile isnt it?

Yeah the insurance is a good point but easily over-looked. I'm not sure if the clubs insurance will cover us for playing a touring match, but I'll be ensuring all the lads know to get insurance or face the consequences! They're big & bold enough to look after it!!

As far as activities, theres a lot of guys that don't necessarily have the best paid jobs & so I want to keep thinks cheap & cheerful. I think I've found an ideal hostel & so I'll investigate that. But thanks for all the info all the same.

    :-)

That Big Daddy O's sounds interesting! We're going the week after the 6 nations ends, but its coinciding with the Magners League match between Edinburgh & Connacht, so might be in with a shout, although we will be going to the match!!

    Cheers
