Hi, I need some help!! I recently bought a laptop and to be perfectly honest I haven’t a clue about anti virus etc Norton came free for three months but upon checking here I decided against purchasing it due to how useless it is, I went with AVG and turned on Windows Defender and I have Windows Firewall, my laptop is Vista, I am just wondering if I should get rid of Windows Defender and Firewall and go for something else? I’ve notice since I switched to AVG that my laptop is actually running slower than ever could this be down to Defender?

Not a big fan of defender either, its been on my work laptop for years and never located anything, where adaware has.

Look at the software on this thread

Zonealarm or Comodo are both excellent free firewalls if you are willing to put up with them in the initial stages where they flag any program on your PC requesting internet access.
I use AVG myself and have not found it to be a resource hog.
