Has anyone info on screenwriting course or book to help flesh out characters . As example I think the crminal in Veronica Guerin and The Crow were 2 D cardboard cutouts with no depth and want to bring depth to mine

Role Playing Games, I think. You put yourself inside the character to get an impression of how they feel in your created scenarios.

Apologies if I'm wrong on that.

    *facepalm*

The idea of role-playing far out-dates the concept of video games. It's better known as acting. As a dramatic tool it's very effective as it allows you to put yourself in the character's shoes.

You dream up your character, put them into a storyline, and then imagine yourself as that character for a while. It lets you empathise with that character, seeing what they see and how they see it. Obviously this requires a bit of imagination, but it can be a lot of fun. :)
