Biology for one anyway, Chemistry too I think.

I want an A1 in OL maths but as long as i get at least a C3 it doesnt really matter.

History man if i dont get a A1 in it ill get so much stick from everyone i know i had to correct one of my old teachers because she made mistakes in class:o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

not an A1, but I have to honour higher level maths, just to stick it to my junior cert teacher, because she always told me I wouldn't be able to do it.

A1 in English and Music definitely.
Hopefully A2 in Home ec, if not a high B.
A1 in OL maths, but i'd fricken love an A1 in OL Irish, to shove in my mates face who is doing Higher. I'd just love to get more point in Irish than her cuz she keeps sayin I'm a cop out for dropping. Pfft.

    Everything else B's & C's :)

Chemistry, Accounting and Geography I'm hoping for A1s in. Geography I should get, Chemistry depends on the marking scheme (the man who does it up has been a right arse in the last few years) and Accounting all depends how well I answer my questions and ensure I don't make a silly mistake. All are HL btw.

I'm hoping to get an Honour in everything tbh, those 3 A's along with a B in HL Maths, HL English and OL German, and a C3 in HL Irish.

maybe not A1 but i want to do really well in economics and maths cos they're my favourite subjects, no less than a B anyway

i was hoping for an A1 in business, ad i got an A2.... i reckon if i rechecked i would go up..... but seeing as i made my number one choice, why risk the money, im skint enough as it is:)

I must get an A1 in Maths.

If I don't get As in economics, business and English I'll be gutted.

History and french Bs I'd say. History is just too broad of an exam and the time will definitely effect me (slow writer). French tape I find hard too.

I really, really wanted an A in Irish. I got a B in it for the JC and ever since then my principal seemed to think I was some kind of Irish retard. Combined with my love for the language, I just wanted it over anything else. My Irish teacher actually told me that I could only hope for an A2 because the Gaeilgeoirs scoop up the A1s. Phh.
Got my A1, anyway. When I saw my results, I saw Irish first, and after that I didn't care if I'd failed everything else.*

*Though if I hadn't gotten A1s in Maths and Physics I would have shot someone.

I really wanna get an A1/A2 in economics purely because its my favourite subject. Would be happy with an A1 in OL maths too, simply because im one of two people who did OL for the Junior, and the rest did honours, and I'd feel it was a big of an achievement for myself
A B in OL irish would make me happy, though I won't be banking on it

High expectations of me, yes. In general, no. I was a token high-achiever, who must bring the average points up as much as possible.

Definitely looking for an A1 in Higher Maths. I'd be annoyed if I didn't get it.

I'm hoping for A1s in Applied Maths, Physics, Chemistry and History but that might be expecting too much.

Hoping for at least a D3 in Irish and a C-something in French or English.

An A1 in English would be brilliant. Why? Because it is better than the A2 my sister got and I must beat her.

Really want A1s in Biology, physchem, accountancy....i've been gettin A1s in them so far and in english and french cos i got As in my junior cert. have to get an A1 in OL maths cos thats the only reason i was allowed drop back! B1 in home-ec would be great (but i hav to teach myself and im really lazy about studying) and if i can at least pass irish i'll be happy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,231 ✭✭✭Fad

My principal loves to dress up the previous years LC results with the uber achievers jazzing up the average. With 2/3 600's the failures who got <300* can be ignored. That said, listening to his speech this year was a pleasure, as no one got 600 last year.

*I am by no means undermining the achievement that is 300 for some, but more or less illustrating the fact that this demographic is more or less ignored (which for the purpose of exagerating the schools preformance is understandable) in his speech.

Irish, French & Music. Would love A1s in them!

I remember mine were Geography and Physics. I did get the A1 in Geog but only an A2 in Physics :( (I know A2 was still a good result, but I was disappointed with it.)

Would like to get A1s in Biology, Geography & Business, all higher.
I hope I get a B1 in honours maths but I doubt i'll get it.

Have to get an A1 in Chemistry, it's such a ridiculously easy subject!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 862 ✭✭✭cautioner

^My Chem class is full of smart people and most of us are getting grinds cos we don't understand half of it

I'd love an A1 in Music, because I didn't do it for JC and all of those who did thought I wouldn't be able do it for LC... I'm alternating between best/second best in the class now :D

Also English, because my brother got an A1 in HL and was unacceptably smug about it.

I think 90% of the Chemistry class in my school failed their Christmas test in 5th year. Meant to be a very tough subject and my friend who's aiming for 550pts is getting grinds in it. Explain yourself Jammy Dodger!

Well I guess the fact that I'm repeating may help, as it's my third year of chemistry now! But I personally just find it ridiculously easy! I think its easy because it's just rote learning with a bit of vague understanding thrown in here and there. I myself find it easy because I've had an interest in physics/chemistry from a young age so I was familiar with a fair amount of the course before hand.

It has the reputation of being a very hard subject, I just don't see why! They're are harder subjects out there!

Yeah i'm in the same position. I'm a repeating as well and the sciences are definitely my strong point. I was half a percent away from an A1 last year so fingers crossed for my rechecks tomorrow at 12.00!!!

Biology and Physics are my A1 subjects :D

Yah same here, the science subjects seem so much easier second time around! Goodluck with your rechecks anyway!

Well im aiming for A1's in Physics and applied maths, and OL irish of course. I think i can hopefully get an A2 in maths HL but the A1 is pushing it as i nearly always mess up something stupid along the way!

At the start of 5th yr i was hoping for an A1 in accounting, but after the year, i'll take a B1 as i think this years paper will be a bitch.

    German and english B's though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭damienricefan

My goodness chemistry is soo easy! Look at the course size! Look at the choice! Look at how if you learn your experiments perfectly then you have a third of your paper done!!!

AHHH If I get lower than B1 then i'll take it back but i'm going for the A1!

Biology however is so vast and intricate and is impossible to dilute!!!

    :D

    A1 - History
    A1 - Biology
    A1 - Maths.(O)

Is what I'm going for. Pure rote learning.

Economics. I won't get it in anything else... or in economics but it's my best shot

I would love an A1 in History and French, unlikely but it'd be lovely.

Hang in there -ME-, if you work hard enough, you deserve the A.

Something I learned last year, in History, more paragraphs = more marks. I was only doing 7 paragraphs per essay meaning these 7 paragraphs had to be PERFECT paragraphs (needed 10marks +)On the day, I decided to make many more paragraphs. I ended up with almost 12 paragraphs per essay last year getting 5-6marks in each. 12 x 5 = 60 marks, and I got like 35+ each = (95+/100)A1 essays.

However, Topic 3 was a nuisance so I had no idea what to write. I ended up with a B2. :(

So I need an A1 in History.

French, I'd LOVE an A1. However I suck at the tape. I lost my CD from last year, have to get it from my friends. Only advice I have is try and get a lot of general phrases with nice grammar and idioms so you'll be covered on a lot of topics. For example, something like

"_____ is a big problem today and it is getting worse by the day"
"In Ireland, the youth is affected by _____ and it affects society greatly"

So it can cover so many things; technology, obesity, drugs, alcohol, pollution.

Anyways, I want an A1 in History, Biology, Business (or at least B1)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 90 ✭✭haloauto

Biology for me. I got 94% in the mocks so would like the A1 again. I doubt I'll get it though.....a B3 would do me.
Geography too, but again B3 is what I need.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 145 ✭✭galway.gaa

    DCG - A1
Accounting - A1 (unless they throw up somethin crazy like a cash flow or suspense)
    Chemistry - A2
    Maths - B1
    Geography - B2
    English - B3

I know its just subjects i want an a1 but i just thought id put them all down since i havnt done this yet and see how many points i might get -520. i take it. itll get me my course:D good times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭SarcasticFairy

I really, really want an A1 in Biology.

Also, I reckon my Geography teacher would actually kill me if I don't get some kind of A.

Economics - I just have to get an A1 in it. Love the subject, you've got to look past LC economics to really appreciate it though, it can turn you off the subject :D
