...when people watch a documentary on a specific topic and therefore enforce the opinions expressed in what they have seen as if they actually had the slightest idea on what they were talking about?

For example, people who see the Richard Dawkins documentary and then suddenly proclaim themselves as atheists without actually understanding what was being said throughout the program.

Really upsets me lads. Sorry.

no idea what you are saying buddy....but i'm with you. Really annoying!

It wouldn't bother me if they were just expressing their opinions on the documentary itself.
But if they proclaimed themselves as experts after a one hour documentary, then yeah that would be extremely annoying.

btw I love your avatar! :D

Uninformed people thinking they are informed and pushing their opinions on others. Sounds like everyday life to me.

I've already decided that I'm an atheist, and I haven't even seen this documentary.

Jesus, how arrogant am I!

I'm a wrestling fan, so i deal with this a lot when talking to older people (or seemingly retarded/ignorant people) who seem to think that, despite my deep knowledge of the sport and my 15+ year constant interest in it, they know more about it than i do, and they feel they have to tell me, not ask, but tell me that wrestling is "fake" and "anyone can do that crap".

Atheists existed before the Michael Moore of Atheism existed. But that's not the point of this thread.

I agree though, OP. Friend A and Friend B know nothing a Topic X. Friend A sees a subjective documentary on Topic X and then ****es on endlessly about it, using the authority he derives from being the only person he knows to have seen it. This fact also means he can make a certain amount of stuff up.

Is he going voluntarily, or have the Nazis returned and are coming for him?
