    Hi,

Over the past 5 or so years, I've seen quite a few professionals for a wide range of issues. However, I assume that you are referring to purely psychological issues here. With that in mind, the best thing to do first is to go to your GP and talk about what is wrong. He/she may then refer you to a psychologist, psychiatrist, or therapist who deals in a specific area. That is basically it.

    The route I took was:

    - GP
    - GP referred me to psychiatrist
    - Psychiatrist diagnosed me with OCD and referred me to therapist
    - Therapist helped ease my OCD

    Kevin.

There are many ways to access a counsellor / psychotherapist and as previous poster said your GP may be happy to refer you to someone in your area.

You can self refer though. The Irish Assoc for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) can give you a list of qualified people in your area. Their website provides info on what to expect:-

If you are able to be a bit more specific about what difficulties you are currently facing, we may be able to help more.

    Best of luck
