    October 9th I think. €15 for myself.

I presume most of you lot went to the NUIG open day. Is it worth going to? Did it influence your choice of NUIG at all, was it helpful? :)

Went on two occasions! The people at the stands are enthusiastic about what they're doing and you can get the answers to any questions you have. A few competitions at the odd stand that might tempt you.

Needless to say, you get the bag of goodies. It comes in handy with all the leaflets and sheets you'll be picking up.

I hope to go too. Is it ok to go in 5th year ? I personally think going in 6th is too late.

Might as well. I don't think 5th year is too early. If nothing else if can give you a feeling for what you want to do.

I never went as a secondary school student, but I did work as a guide/ goodie bag packer/ human signpost on three Open Days. I'm glad they've changed the date (it used to be the first Thursday in December). Absolutely freezing if you were working (because it's December), distracting if you were studying for Christmas exams (because you've hundreds of excited school students running about the place).

From what I've heard over the last four years, those who went to the Open Day(s) enjoyed it and found out a lot about what they might like to do after school. I often got the impression though that the Leaving Cert students took it more seriously than the Fifth Years, who enjoyed the chance to have a day off. Maybe it was the realisation that the CAO had to be done in a few weeks. :pac:

I just went to the arts degree lectures and the lecturers were superb, so enthuasiastic. It made me even more desperate to do some study and get out of the never ending tide of ****e that is secondary education.

Pain in the balls how the Medicine talks were handled. We wasted half the day waiting for a phantom shuttlebus only to find that it was a ten minute walk. Missed a load of talks I'd had my eye on :(

Anyone got any comments on the History dept?

I always found them to be great people.

They held the med talks in the CSI? Wow, what a really stupid idea.

I went to the NUI Galway open day and I thought it was laid out really well. The lecturers were very enthusiastic and I got a real insight into the various courses. Some of the connect courses in arts seem really interesting. I'm definitely considering going there next year... Just one important question- is the night life really all it's cracked up to be?!

Depends. For some people, it's great to head down to Spainish Arch and drink a bottle of Bucky.

Others want to hit Cuba and get banged in the toilets.

    It's all there.

However: if you dislike the idea of endless piss ups DO NOT GO TO CORRIB VILLAGE.

You can always hear the same storys: first years who like the odd bit of nightlife despise living in Corrib due to the incessant partying.
