    Hi guys,

Just a question. I have been a rugby player most of my days but thought I would like a change. My reasons being, im starting teaching in primary schools and it just seems that everybody is obsessed with the GAA, that and i love the game and would love to play.

Here's the catch, i have never played before in my life. 25 now so dont know if it is too late to pick it up? Anybody got any view points? Any club recommendations?? Im living in N Dublin.

    Thanks!

I say jump right into to it. There are more then a few skills transferable from rugby to Gaelic Football, and if your the athletic type I'm sure you'll take to it very quickly. Hurling is obviously a bit more difficult, but well worth playing too since its the vastly superior of the two codes. :D

I'm sure one of the lads here will suggest a good club.

I say go for it man, i know a local guy who is 38 and been playin for 5 years if you wanna go for it then do it! :D

Also if you specify where in north Dublin you are i am sure some of the lads here can point you in the direction of some teams who you could join

    Best of luck with it

Na Fianna would be your local club.Other nearby clubs would be Whitehall Colmcilles. However,I'm going to recommend you Rosmini Gaels.

They play there in Plunkett VEC on the Swords Road beside Home Farm FC.They are a division 12 team so the standard wouldn't exactly be high but the lads there are still good footballers at that level and have the craic playing. They are going pretty well in their league too.I've 1 or 2 friends on that team.It is not exactly next door to you but close enough and the lads there are very welcoming.

most of those clubs have a junior b team where the skill level is mixed between total newbies and skilled players that are too fat or injured or old to play at a higher level ( I fit into all 3 of those catagories !) Call the club PRO he will sort you out. Also the bigger clubs usually have contact details of managers on the web
