PC World Insurance

I recently bought a Fuji S8000fd in PC World and was offered a 3 or 5 year insurance type cover (€50+ or €70+). They will repair for free or replace the camera within each time period - worldwide.

I didn't pay extra for this at the time, can purchase this cover at later date.

Maybe a stupid question, but is there any reason not to pay for this?

Your home insurance may already cover you. I personally would never buy the extra insurance from the likes of PC World/Dixons - that's where they make all their money. They usually push very hard to sell this after you buy anything from them.

For what it's worth, the only feedback I've heard from this insurance is how insanely difficult it is to claim if anything does go wrong. A friend of mine bought a camera from Curries (which is owned by the same people as PC World and Dixons). His camera went belly up so he took it back to the store and claimed it against his coverplan. He spent the next 9 MONTHS calling the store, head office, etc trying to sort out the claim. In the end he got some vouchers to use in the store. Might be worth having a read of this too.
