Generally favourable review from Gamespot...anyone else play it yet?

I'm just hearing mainly negative things from the internet. I'm picking it up regardless as a lot of these criticisms are coming from people expecting the next Call of Duty 4. Watching some of the videos on youtube at least some of the problems are apparent; graphics look amazing one minute and PS2 the next; moving squad to cover only to have them jump over the other side and get killed; MP is an after-thought.

It's good. Not worth €60 though.
I traded in some games and got it for €30 so I'm happy enough. I've only played the original BIA on the PS2 and I loved it. This just doesn't feel like much of a leap forward from the original. The graphics really are patchy in places, and the mission design is just as varied in quality. My biggest complaint is that it's just too easy. I played it through on Veteran and finished it in two days of intermittent play. The enemy AI hasn't evolved since the PS2 days. The "Authentic" mode I unlocked once I cleared Veteran is a bit of a joke. All it does is remove the crosshairs. Which would be fine except when you shoot from behind cover there are no iron-sights. You just have to gauge where the centre of the screen is to aim.

So basically, if you've played the previous games and you still want more of the same: pick it up. But don't pay full price.

I bought the first two BIA games for my pc. While they were a half step up from the traditional fps (with the ability to command a squad), it was maddening to be blasting away at an enemy who was in your sights, and keep on missing him.

The AI in the first 2 games wasn't great either and I was hoping that the 3rd installment would be better. From the posts above, this isn't the case. I'll probably still buy it but only when the price drops (or if I can get it cheaper on the interweb).

I was going to get it for PC too but after playing it on console I'm giving it a miss. Which is ironic because the hitboxes are just as bad as the previous BIA game. Also the mulitplayer, from what little I've played, isn't up to much.

I know they were going for "realistic aiming" but in some cases I'd be literally a few feet away from an enemy and firing point blank at his head and he wouldn't die, and that was using keyboard and mouse which IMO is a hell of a lot more accurate than a ps3 controller.

I started playing it last night for the first time. not impressed... i have to say i actually preferred the previous BIA.

Not sure i like the controls as much either. i.e when you run you cant turn fast. mmmm.

IMO theres no FPS out there at the mo that matches COD4 and Crysis.

but again. thats just me.

I really enjoyed it i recently spent a week in hospital and went through the band of brothers box set so i was really in that frame of mind.

I liked that its different from COD as im bored to death of FPS after FPS coming out and wanted something a bit different. It wont be for everyone but if you like gaming that isnt run and gun then you could like this.

Some problems getting into cover from time to time but still a good effort and well worth renting at least.

Completed it last night bought it new played one mission turned it off.
Controls are just broken and both the fire team and assault team only suppress.
In the last one you let the squad do the attacking,this one was irritating broken rubbish
