I am by no means 'big', i am 22 and a size 8-10. I managed to shake off half a stone i gained while on holidays in just 4 weeks and altho im happy with my weight and size, i feel i need to tone up. I watch what i eat and have been going on 4 mile walks at least 3 times a week and the occasional swim. My arms aren't fat but I hav an extra bit of flabby skin under my arms thats there even when I dont wear a bra, hav been using my boyfriends bench weights, will this work and how long till i start to see results?also my stomach is relatively flat but theres a layer af flabby skin,if thats how i could describe it, will sit ups alone rid me of this and again how long will it take?

Sorry, im jus new to the whole fitness thing and am heading away next month so want to look my best.

Any advice will b much appreciated :)

    Hi

A good way to start is by doing a plank before you go to bed and when you get up( you can google it to see what it is and how to do it, as i'm to lazy to describe it) but its easy and effective as it will tone up your mid-section and takes about a minute depending on how long you can hold your position. My girlfriend wanted to start toning up as well. So i made her cards with about 5 exercises on each. And every night she puts the clock on 20 min and keeps doing the ecercises for 20min. Knowing its only 20 minutes helps with motivation and it gets the job done. Air squats are also very effective, so include as much as possible.

    why two threads?

anyway, you cant spot reduce fat, so benching wont reduce fat on your arms, and sit up wont reduce fat on the stomach.

i'm gald you're benching tho, lifting weight will speed metabolism and help you burn fat overall.
do proper weight lifting 3 times a week, 3 sets of 10 reps.
    bench
    rows
    deadlift
    squat
    lunges

and you should see a difference.
drop maybe 300 cals per day from your diet, by eating healthier choices.

as for the plank as mentioned above, its a great exercise for pulling in the stomach, as it works the deep abdominal muscles.

read the stickies on diet if you are wondering what to eat! :)

Make sure you are eating your fish oils. A lot of women go very low fat to lose weight, and their skin can suffer as a result. Lack of essential fatty acids (like fish oil) will result in saggy skin! Take a good fish oil supplement every day (I'd double the recommended dose) and get some good skin cream. Try the ones aimed at pregnant women.
