Okkervil River are totally awesome! They're playing the Academy in November and I can't wait to see them again. If you're buying an album to see what they're like I'd recommend starting with Black Sheep Boy, it's their 3rd last album and it's incredible. The album before the new one, The Stage Names is also amazing and the new album is sort of a sequel to it, hence the name The Stand Ins.

I really can't recommend them highly enough, once you hear them I'd say you'll be sold pretty quickly. I've been listening to them a few mornings a week for more or less a year and a half, they're that kind of band. Hope you like them.

Incidentally the lead singer, Will Sheff, is guest DJ on NPR's All Songs Considered podcast this week.

Anyone know what time, roughly, they will be on stage in Roisins tomorrow? Just wondering if I need to skip tarining tomorrow night to go see them!

Saw them in Dublin last year (I think...) and they were excellent (venue was awful though, Academy 2). I then booked tickets to see them in Galway last year as well (they weren't playing in Dublin), but got the day wrong and missed them.

    I was very upset.
