I had a 635csi and still miss it. You will need a garage to store it and they rust badly the wings are very expensive and hard to get. The only way to check it out would be by putting it up on a ramp. The wish bones give trouble.

have a garage all snuggly and heated

    he reckons its rust free

suppose its a matter of checking

were the wish bones hard to source?

Mine was destroyed with rust and took alot of work. The wish bone came from a crashed one in england. Electric seats gave problems aswell but you can download the wiring diagram. They are lovely to drive and look great. But they can be like a wedding ring to get rid of.

Unless you know what you are looking at/for & have someone knowledgeable to go with you, avoid this like the plague. These are a fantastic car if all is well, if not, buying such will be the cheapest part...:(

You now have the answer to one of your questions: the market priced it at around €4K, which obviously did not satisfy its owner. Markets are cruel beasts...

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Ebay is not "the market". If the car is anywhere near as good as the owner describes, he'd be mad to let it go for €4k

i don't think that ebay is the market or anything like it

acually seems a strange place to put it

I think an expert assemesment would be money well spent on any of these type of cars. They are gorgeous and great to drive but all bodywork repairs will be very expensive so buy one that you KNOW is rust free, not one you are TOLD is rust free.

    Goos luck !

Hmm, I am told (mind you I used to work at eBay...) that when you look at the figures it is the one single medium that sells the most cars in the whole of Europe, hands down, online and offline combined. Looks like a market to me.

It might not be the largest market for CSIs... but here are a few more: http://motors.shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0QQ_dmptZAutomobilesQ5fUKQQ_fromZR46?_nkw=bmw+csi&_sacat=29751&_fromfsb=&_trksid=m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=29751

including one for £4K as a buy now if you are tempted...

I am watching "Wheeler Dealer" on TV, they just bought a rather nice looking 635 CSI for ... £2K and another one for spares for £300.... amazing.... and sold it for £3700....

....but there you said - Europe. Europe has, for the most part - broadband. We don't, generally. So no point in having all that lovely stuff in the ether, if people can't access it. And our PC literacy is below par, so that's not helping.

Then there's the thorny issue of the way Motors works on eBay.ie. Go to eBay.ie, click on 'Motors', and then pick, say BMW. You get listing - half filled with UK cars. I did just that, now, and got THIS included in listing.

Now, by any parameter, that is a complete red-herring. That item will always look 'cheap' on the list, and be prominent......because it's listed in sterling, and doesn't include VRT. In other words, the listing is distorted. Why are UK listings included, by default ? - that tells me that motors on ebay.ie is just a lash-up attempt, and that it's really ebay.co.uk that ebay is interested in.

    ..normal programming will resume momentarily...........

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

eBay.ie Motors would have about 3 cars on it if they didn't include UK listings as default. It's quite frankly pants. So is PayPal's lack of plastic card options for Ireland while we're at it.

    Hi Tigger,
    This is mine...

    http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=74409&cat=2

Now, maybe it's not your bag, as in it's not a classic (technically) but I do have it insured for less than a €100 per year on a classic policy.
Obviously I'm biased but I'd highly recommend one, whether it's my one or not..
