upscaling DivX's on a laptop?

This may need to be moved to DIY but in any case I'll post it here and if mods want to move it they can.

i've recently bought a Samsung 37" 6 series and together with Sky+ HD, it's a pretty nice package. i'm also streaming content (mostly Divx) over wifi to my laptop and connecting that to my Tv using a DVI to HDMI cable. I'm using J river media center as i was having some crashing issues with WMC. It seems to stream absolutly fine and some of my HD content also steams ok. My question relates to upscalling Divx's. I'm aware that some DVD players can upscale DivX to 780 but is there software i can get to do the same job through my laptop? Does my GPU do this anyway? I'm asking because some of my DivX's look a little crap and I'd like to get the most out of them. I'll be getting an XBOX 360 over the next couple of months to replace the laptop in the streaming end of things.

    Thanks in advance.

    Try: http://www.projecthtpc.co.uk/software3.html

FFDshow has the ability to upscale. I'm no expert but its worth a shot!

yes the ffdshow tryouts are your best option. with some tinkering you will get very good quality but it puts the load on you CPU.

Bear in mind that the bit rate and size of the DivX/XViD encode will also have a big effect on picture quality.
