Have time off work in November and looking to book European city break. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Not too precious about where I go, just somewhere that the people are friendly and there are some good things to see and do.
    Any help would be welcome.

Friendly fun franks hostel in Riga (Latvia) is great crack if you want to party your socks off. The locals don't like English speaking tourists but the hostel organises pub crawls. Riga is cheaper than here but it's not that cheap for the area.

Villnius in Lithuania is a really nice city, it's cheap and friendly and not completely over run with tourists. At least it's not completely over run with stag tours that just seem to ruin everything. I really liked the place.

Prague is another amazing city just geared towards having a good time and you could take a spin out to Cesky Krumlov a medieval town.

barcelona, lots of stuff to see and plenty to do eg. port aventura theme park is an hour south by train and well worth a day (ryanair fly to reus right next to the park)

you can book tickets online for home barcelona fc games in the camp nou if you are into that

Barcelona looks good. The game in the nou camp would be something I'm interested in. Might also have a look at Riga as it looks different.
I have been to Prague and while I enjoyed it while I was there don't intend visiting again for some time.

My favourite two are Barcelona and Berlin

barcelona has decent nightlife and loads to see and do during the day. Football's a big attraction.

Berlin has tons and tons of history and loads fo 24 hour bars and clubs that go on all night. People are as friendly as can be

Hadn't thought of Berlin. Will look up flights to there also. The attitude of the people is important as I was in Budapest recently and didn't find the locals too friendly - is headwrecking after a couple of days.
Was also thinking of Brussels - has anyone been there and what was your opinion of the city?

Barcelona is looking like where I'll be going. I was talking to some friends this evening though who told me that there are high levels of street crime in the city.

Id reccomend Berlin too. Was there in march and thought it was great. Looking to go back very soon. There is loads to do but its well spread out. I rented a push bike, only 6 euro for the day. People are very friendly and 24 hour clubs etc as already mentioned.

Was in Prague recently too and while it was good Id rather go back to Berlin.

Got the Berlin Welcome card. All trains (underground, overground, trams) and buses included and discounts to every museum/sight and most activities. Public transport is amazing there

There are no books, films or TV programmes that can prepare you for Venice. A truly magical city.

you come out of the train station and bam, the place hits you. The italians are great people as well, even more so if you have a bash at the language.
