    We're in a recession...
    Irish economy goes into recession

The Irish Republic's economy has fallen into recession after shrinking for a second quarter in succession. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) said gross domestic product (GDP) had contracted by 0.5% in the three months to the end of June.

The economy had shrunk by 0.3% in the first quarter of the year. Technically, a recession is defined as two or more successive quarters of negative growth. It is the first time Ireland has experienced a recession since 1983.

The economy is now facing its most difficult period since high unemployment and emigration hit in the early 1980s.

Recession means never having to look and see if another person already beat you to it. Chances are they haven't becasue they can't afford to.

    Is it time for Bagatelle?

I remember that summer in Dublin,
And the Liffey as it stank like hell,
And young people walking down Grafton Street,
    Everyone looking so well.
I was singing a song I heard somewhere,
    Called "Rock'n'Roll Never Forget",
When my humming was smothered by the 46A,
And the scream of a low flying jet.
So, I jumped on a bus to Dun Laoghaire,
Stopping off to pick up my guitar,
When a drunk on a bus told me how to get rich,
I was glad we weren't going too far.

They were all window shopping and looking at the things they could buy if we weren't in a recession.

People is such a strong word for the small, orange skinned, miniskirted female folk that seem to congrigate around that area..

I can't say I see the effect of this recession yet myself. I mean the banks are going bust! With the amount of people still shopping i reckon the public has enough money to bail them out!

In pre-WWII Germany their currency became so devalued that if you left a basket full of cash unattended, you were likely to return to find the money tipped out onto the street and the basket stolen.

Thats an economic reccession, stop whining ya bunch of pansies.

Are you kidding, I haven't read anything on AH in years, I just randomly hit the multiquote buttons as I scroll through the pages, and start blazing away. Seems like the sanest approach, really.
