My BF says that they're really good - they're a rebadge of a popular brand on the continent. I don't personally have any experience with them.

Its the same hardware on the inside as what most pc's have. Its only branded differently on the outside. The most important thing is the warrenty that it comes with !

There's a new Lidl opening next Thursday at Whitestown, Tallaght, and they are advertising the Targa High end Dual Core PC for 499.00

My friend has a pc from aldi and it’s about 3/4 years old now. He has no problems with it except cooling, there’s a cpu fan and thats it, his pc keeps overheating and shutting down every few hours, although that might just be from the overload of dust inside there. The pc is great though but cooling is a massive problem (duno about cooling on new medion pc's). I suppose you could allways buy a new case for 50e.

Just a CPU fan is adequate, if not ideal for some people. I wouldn't call that a massive cooling problem or even a problem at all, sure most Dell machines, HP, etc don't come with any extra fans at all either. You even said his machine is filled with dust.....plus, if you were that worried, an extra 80cm fan or two is hardly going to break the bank at about 15 euro.

I've had an Aldi laptop for 3 and a half years with zero problems.

I wouldn't buy an Aldi laptop an expect to be able to do much with it apart from the web and word-processing. And they are a little slow.

A Pentium 3 is OK for web browsing and word-processing. What's so bad about Aldi laptops that it can barely manage that much? I would never call them powerhouses but for the price they've always been reasonable and capable of a lot more then just 'web and word-processing....a little slow.'

It has an Intel Core2 Duo Processor E7300 (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066 MHz FSB). Shouldn't that be okay for most applications? Unless you're doing pretty intensive stuff?

Had one at home for 4 years, the medion multimedia desktop from aldi. Best computer we've ever had, zero problems apart from overheating. I put to alot of work, gaming/video and audio editing. I would recommend putting an extra fan somewhere to keep it cool. I had to clean ours out alot as we have two pets in the room which created alot of dust.
