    Hi all

I'm on the look out for some quality well fitting suits and formal clothes, I drastically need to tidy myself up a bit (am still living in jeans even though I've been working a couple of years now) but I'm a bit strapped for cash. I would be willing to spend up to €200 on a good quality suit but I don't know where to go. My favourite shop is generally Topshop, as the clothes there fit me very well, but obviously it's not much good for suits!

    Any advice is welcome! Thanks

Loads of sales on at the moment. €200 is not alot for a nice suit but Next do some decent stuff around that price. Marks and Spencers suits are also suprisingly nice for the price too. If I were you though, I'd have a look in Arnotts or some such place. You can get a nice Magee suit for not much more than €200 if there's a sale. Lovely waisted cut, quality cloth and a good standard of workmanship. I got a navy blue, two buttoned suit in Magee in Donegal for €250 or €280 or something. It was a sale. Nicer than suits I've paid alot more for.
Topshop suits are only good for a night out or wearing to the office every day. Wouldn't touch one for a formal or important occasion.

If you are in the Dublin area I would recommend T.M. Lewin (South Anne Street).

A suit may be a bit more than €200 but they usually have a sale on (1/2 price at the moment I believe). I find the quality is very good for the price range and the suits usually "look expensive" unlike many of the ones I have bought in Next, Warehouse, Wallis, etc.

You can't beat Zara for either mens or womens good quality tailored suits. They do cheaper ones for under €100 or wool suits for in and around €200 (€120 jacket, €80 pants).
M&S are the best after that- try their outstanding value range.
    :)

The prices are not bad but remember they are off-the-rack. scary_tractors, are you in a rush to get the suit? If not, you can find some great bargains on-line if you are willing to measure yourself or alternatively most online companies offer callout services to your workplace or home.

Do a quick search and you'll find loads of options, no shortage.

Someone in America said H&M did alright suits for the price, do any of the branches in Dublin carry the more formal lines? The Ilac Centre one is just street wear.

I need a suit for a large formal event in about a month from now. I was going to get one off the rack and then get it tailored. I'm still not sure about 2 or 3 button but one thing I don't know anything about is vents. Should I get one with just one vent at the back in the middle or double vented? I'm 22, medium height and in ok shape so even though I like 3 buttoned more I was thinking navy 2 button single vent would be better for my age, would I be better getting a younger cut at Zara or TM Lewin? Someone said a grey suit would be more versatile than navy but I think at large events grey would stick out more than a navy one.

I would second Zara. They have some great suits, very resonably priced and good quality..
