Port tunnel colapses

I seen this in the Herald and was wondering... hypatheticly:rolleyes: Distaster strikes and the port tunnel collapse's at each end. There looking for people to risk there life to go in and save these people. Would you answer the call?
THE Dublin Port Tunnel is unsafe for drivers, a shocking internal memo by its operators have warned.
A report by the company in charge of the €751 million underpass has stated that its safety system is “unsuitable to ensure the tunnel's safe operation” and “generates dangerous situations”.
Despite the chilling document by Egis Tunnels, the parent company of Transroute, which operates the port tunnel, Transport Minister Noel Dempsey has refused to ease the safety fears of the city’s motorists.
The document by tunnel experts Egis has revealed that the Scada safety system cannot be guaranteed.
The technology, which is responsible for height detection of vehicles, fire suppression mechanisms and closed circuit television, has collapsed on previous occasions.
Now, Fine Gael's transport spokesman Fergus O'Dowd has called on Minister Noel Dempsey to tell drivers whether or not the €751m underpass is safe.
“I want Transport Minister Dempsey to come out and immediately tell the public whether the tunnel is safe for use,” Mr O'Dowd said.
“The report by Egis Tunnels found that the Scada tunnel system was ‘unsuitable to ensure the tunnel's safe operation' which was due to the systems ‘inadequate design, operating deficiencies, lack of reliability and an unsuitable man-machine interface',” he said.

    Concerns
Mr O'Dowd added: “I called for a full safety audit of the Dublin Port Tunnel back in early March when safety concerns were first raised.
“During a Transport Oireachtas Committee meeting in late March with the NRA (National Roads Authority), I brought up the issue of this safety system and at no time did the NRA raise safety concerns.
“This report by Egis is devastating in the way it reports the tunnel's safety system is unsuitable and cannot be maintained.”
He said the minister is the only person who can address “these glaring shortcomings in the tunnel”.
“This is a crucial piece of infrastructure for the national economy and we must have confidence in its safety and its ongoing use. I want to see the minister tell us if he is happy that the tunnel is fit for use,” Mr O'Dowd said.
Neither the NRA nor a spokesperson for the minister could be contacted this morning.
A failure in the Scada system was blamed for a shutdown of the tunnel in February.
The closure came just days after the NRA carried out a comprehensive audit of safety procedures in the tunnel
The NRA admitted at the time it had “serious concerns” about both the “durability and reliability” of the Scada safety system.
Minister Dempsey said in February he was concerned at the frequency of recent tunnel closures.
It is the latest safety controversy to beset the tunnel. Earlier this year, the Herald revealed concerns over the failure to properly escort potentially explosive petrol tankers through the underground road.
A confidential report by Ireland's only expert on the matter warned the tunnel is risking a “catastrophic” accident unless a series of “glaring” safety concerns over the transport of petrol tankers through the site are addressed. The leaked report called for immediate improvements to ward off a potentially lethal explosion.

I wouldn't waste my lube on the port tunnel.

One blocked and decrepid tunnel is bad enough!

If he doesn't get to make a montage beforehand though his saving capacities will be greatly deminished.
