How many of you honestly think you love Ireland? personally I'm learning a new language so I can the **** out of this jerk-water piss hole.

I'm putting the foot down, I've had enough. I'm sick of junkies and ugly bitches and GAA.

    Enough!

Still though, beats the hell out of Wales,Scotland and England... and Afghanistan... and France

Why not just move to an English speaking country? You'd be gone quicker.

why would there be a lock?

anywho, i share your sentiments OP, although only as far as to the extent of the cities and bad lands.

I love the landscape and the country side in Ireland, I really miss that I have to say

I'd take weather like yesterday, better public transport and health system, cheaper cities and people that supported their local soccer clubs too.

I love Ireland, best place ever! Its home... May not be the most flashy country in the world, it may not have a smart government, it may be an expert at wasting money, it may not have many things to do bar drinking but I love this unorganised mess of alcho's and junkies and wouldn't trade it for anything!

I'll miss the sense of humour but I think that'll be regulated as well in the next few years. I'm with you OP, and I'll probably be getting the **** out of here not too long from now.

I'm delighted to be out of Ireland, in particular Dublin. I'd never live there again.

scotland is nice, though there are a lot of knackers running around the towns at night even in smallish cities like inverness though athlone is as bad :D

incredible amount of wild rabbits in the highlands

Scotland was great when i was there, spent about a year in Dundee.
As a universal rule, the scots are mental. Also everything is about 3Billion per-cent cheaper than back home (rough estimate).

Also: NHS and trains that actually go to more than 2 places are fantastic.

Well OP, if only we could cut off everything beyond the pale and maybe keep Donegal & Clare for the scenery like :P

I have this romantic dream of eloping to Scotland. But if I bring himself over, I won't be able to hook up with any sexy Scots.

I never wanted to come back to Cork again... then I ended up having to come back here anyway and now I've no interest in returning to Dublin. Cork's actually great.

Just have himself ask someone from glasgow for directions somewhere, by the time he figures out what the glaswegian is saying you can have had several scottish men and learned a sport to an olympic standard.

    Give me a pie chart!!!

you'll get a graph chart and you'll be happy with it, ya bauld pup.

Have to say having lived in Galway city... its an excellent place...
flippin hate being in dublin for any length...

And... i hate tourists saying they've been to Ireland when they only go to Dublin... The rest of Ireland is gorgeous for scenery, landscapes, culture... etc... etc...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭mathias

Brings back memories this thread does , I grew up in Swords and couldnt wait to get out of the country , its all I ever wanted I hated the place so much ...

Then I got an FSE job , The way that usually works is you go away for six weeks , back for 2 and away again ... and so on , occasionally you get a year in one place , back for a month and away again.

After a few years of that , and having visited Malaysia , Taiwan , Japan , America ( Burlington Vermont , Dallas Texas, Phoenix Arizona , San Jose California ) , Philipines , Singapore , Italy , France , Germany ....some of these for extended stays ....

I can honestly say Ireland is pretty good , and every time I came back I was happier to be here.

Italy and Germany were particular eye openers , if you think Dublin is bad try spending a year in Dresden .... anywhere is good after Dresden! And Vimy in Italy is not much better.

By the way , Italy is outrageously expensive , if you think we have it bad with a rip off culture you want to try there for a while.

Of all the places Ive been , given the choice the two I wouldnt mind going to permanently if I had too, would be Singapore and Japan ( Matsumoto) , But Im happy enough here.

    I like Ireland

Ireland treats me like an alcoholic abusive lover who brings home good money and gives me the occasional nice, romantic sh*g every now and then. He does not forbid me to go down to the pub either so all in all it's a pretty good marriage.
And he likes arts and theatre and stuff like that. Yeah. Oh, and he's handsome.
    But he rains.

    Lol.

    How's that for explanation?

I work in London during the week, then come home to Ireland on a friday night. Works great for me.

Ireland's not so bad, but it is small, even Dublin is like a big village at times.

good place to bring up kids though.

Oh, Dudess, how many "Sexy Scotsmen" are you expecting to find when they all live on fish suppers and deep fried mars bars.:D

Ireland's an alright country, I'm just a bit sick of it at this stage.

I still think Galway is one of the most lively cities I've ever been to and even though I grew up there I still think it's a cool place.

Ireland's much better than England anyway that's one dull, boring country.

There's way more skang outside Dublin than in Dublin, believe it or not. Before you try this solution, spend one day and one night in the following towns and you'll see what I mean...

    Edenderry

    Navan

    Drogheda

    Athlone

    Portarlington

    Dundalk

And you'll see what I mean. We had this discussion before here recently...
