Have the council extended the ban on HGV vehicles travelling through the city to 4 axle vehicles yet? There was talk of doing this last year.

I also wonder if the permits are being checked.
I cycle down the quays most days and it seems to me that the number of HGV's is starting to increase again.

The biggest user of the permit system is Diageo with the quays being the main route they would take to and from the port.
Other big users are located in the fruit market area with their main route being to the port/port tunnel also being via the quays.

I wonder how well this system is enforced? I wouldnt blame truckers for chancing their arm over the M50 toll disaster - Its incredible that they cannot now claim the tax back off their tolls. I really hope they stage a protest.

The whole thing is a scam, No vat back and no alternative route and then cornered into having to accept the spy chip if they want any kind of a discount.

I hope they copy the French in their tactics some day.
