    howye all,

just wondering has anyone tried this, or if its even possible ?. looking at some other MPEG4 threads on various forums theoretically it should be possible to use DVB-t MPEG2 cards for MPEG4 using the appropriate codec..

    stylers.

Absolutely it is Stylers, I've got the Hauppauge HVR-3000 installed in my PC and it only supports mpeg2 with the supplied software, however using DVB viewer Pro (latest version) I'm picking up the mpeg 4 trials from three rock on DVB-T and on DVB-S all the usual Astra 28 fta channels plus BBC and ITV HD the codec I'm using is arcsoft H.264 although others here have also had good results using the Cyberlink codec.

    Hope that helps.

good stuff. I picked up an avermedia 777 dvb-t card on a while ago for peanuts, so was hoping i could try and use it for the trials. was hoping to try and use it with mythTV, i think the ffmpeg codec for linux does H.264/MPEG4 but there's not a huge lot of info about this out there (seems new zealand and norway are the only other places testing MPEG4 at the minute). I'll be giving it a shot anyway..

    thanks,

    stylers.

There is a lot of confusion alright between hardware decoding and software decoding.

    For a PC its easy.....

If France is using MPEG4, and is one of the countries in which Play TV launched, wouldn't it be expected to support MPEG4?!
