are the rear side windows in a 79 type2 camper the same as the 72?
there was a model change in 72 as far as i know and i am wondering.

we tried fitting the window from a 72 to a 79 bu it seems slightly too big

Not sure if there was a change, did you ask on T2I?

the change was all below the belt-line as far as I know. Justin's '71 (?) bay van is an "early bay", my '74 is a "late bay". The differences are in the front panel, rear lamps, bumpers, chassis rails, wheel arches, door hinges, sliding door handle etc. I don't think thare's any difference in the window aperture size.

Crazylegs on T2I will know for sure, this is his bread and butter. If you ask him nicely he might even go out and measure both early and late bay window frames for you.

the other thing to watch out for is that campers were often built up from panel vans and the side glass may not be original VW, in either vehicle!!

Ah good point - unless it's a westy there's a good chance it started out as a panel van.

no this one is a factory built one

the other one was a panel van that had windows fitted

actually the windows are still there, they are aluminium frames with sliding glass in them

yeah, it was from down south Kilkenny if it's the one I'm thinking of. It was a panel van and had really little aluminium framed windows out of a boat grafted in...
